HUD LogoProject: Web-Access Security SubSystem (WASS)

The Public and Indian Housing - Real Estate Assessment Center (PIH-REAC) and Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) divisions at HUD maintain a system that provides Security-related services such as single sign-on, authorization, authentication and delegation, via a web portal, to approximately 30 mission critical systems within HUD.

iDataMart has been successfully providing Application Development, Operations & Maintenance, Operational Support, and subject matter expertise in Authentication and Authorization of the WASS system for over six years.

Testimonial HUDOur team operates at CMMI Maturity Level 2, providing full-lifecycle activities including requirements analysis and management, architecture design and coding using the following tools: Java/J2EE, Sybase, Struts, Sun ONE, SiteMinder, and Webthority, extensive testing (system, integration, regression, automated, section 508), and production deployment.

The WASS system plays a key role in providing a gateway to 120,000 HUD users to 30 mission critical systems. As such, failure and disruption of service is not an option. iDataMart's performance on the project has been frequently praised by HUD, due mainly to the following benefits our team has provided to HUD over the years:

  • Improved security via a robust and reliable system
  • Outstanding customer support: iDataMart has always been flexible and responsive to the changing needs of HUD
  • The use of a centralized authentication and authorization mechanism reduces the development and maintenance costs of the 30 systems that interface with WASS for their Authentication and Authorization needs

HUD LogoProject: Wireless Pilot Project

The Office of Security and Emergency Planning (OSEP) was looking for a wireless solution that allowed HUD security personnel to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations and maintain constant communication during a crisis.

In a subcontractor capacity, iDataMart led a feasibility study to determine which wireless platform was better suited to fulfill HUD needs, providing the most reliable service within the operational and physical constraints of HUD's facilities. In order to do this, iDataMart provided the following services:

  • OSEP Business Process Analysis
  • Analysis of security requirements and constraints, such as area of coverage, operational conditions, location constraints, and types of communication channels needed.
  • Product compliance matrix to match needs with candidate products
  • Research of wireless platforms
  • Report with recommended solution

iDataMart's recommendation was accepted and implemented by OSEP. The benefits of implementing this solution included a more reliable wireless platform for prompt and secure intra-company communication in times of crisis or emergencies.
